El Miedo a la Libertad-Tanghetto

El Miedo a la Libertad-Tanghetto (review 1)

This album by Tanghetto is a wonderful surprise. There is an incredible amount of deliberately sequenced soulfulness in "El Miedo a La Libertad". The entire album conveys the mood of a bright and happy day, idling in a beautifully romantic European city, such as Paris.

Track 1,"El Testigo" starts out calmly, and moves the album on toan adventurous note. The middle of the album takes on a upliftingliveliness in track 5, "Viajero Inmóvil" track 6 "Englishman in NewYork" and track 7 "¿Alguien se acuerda del Mayo Francés?".

"El Miedo a la Libertad"-Tanghetto (review 2)

The new cd of Tanghetto challenges again the sound of the"electrotango". The first song called "El testigo" has both elements of electronic music and tango as its best. It is an instrumental song with such a powerful electronic beat that sounds like a hit. The second song of the album "Buscando camorra", in Argentinean slang "Looking for trouble", has the unique touch of those who love milonga and love to dance tango. The third song is a great cover version of the Eurythmycs 1982 hit "Sweet dreams (are made of this)" with perfect and original arrangements that give that classic world music flavor. Another great song of the album is track number five "Viajero Inmovil"." I think is what Piazolla should do if he was still alive". Electronica, tango and world music fused together breaking new ground. What about track number seven? A flamboyant cover of Sting s Top 40 (1987) an "English Man in New York" mixing tango, jazz and reggae without missing a note. Those guys really know how to do it! Sting should be proud and starving for more of "A bandoneonist in New York". And they have many wonderful surprises in this excellent cd "Media Persona"(track N8) has crossed another limit for music purists fusing some of the best music of south america for the first time. "Bossa nova" with "electrotango", creating a beautiful musical atmosphere for those who love quality. This part of the album has a special jazzy touch that begins with track number seven "¿Alguien se acuerda del Mayo Frances?" and that explodes on track number nine, the standard for jazz and acid jazz fans the Herbie Hancock 1964's (and 1993 smasher)"Cantaloupe Island". Tracks number four "El arte de amar" and twelve "El Miedo a la Libertad" are electrotango ballads that will be favourites for dancers and milongueros. The last one has the imput of a millenarian Chinese instrument "the erhu".So this is it, one of our favourite picks for 2008-2009"El miedo a la libertad" can please all: the jazz lover, the milonguero, the world music fan and those who love pop music with extra-quality.

"El Miedo a la Libertad"-Tanghetto (review 3)

The tango electronics from Buenos Aires are back with a new CD containing 12 titles. Their previous productions "Emigrante" and "Hybrid Tango" (both were nominated for the Latin Grammy) made them one of the most popular Electrotango bands. The new album "El Miedo a la Libertad" presents titles like "Media Persona", a fusion between tango and bossa nova, and cover versions of "Englishman in New York" (Sting), where tango, jazz and reggae melt, "Sweet Dreams (are made of this)" (Eurhythmics). The best songs of the record are track number one "El testigo" (strongs beats with a great tango mood), track number five "El viajero Inmovil"(tango with a chinese jazzy musical spirit), track number two "Buscando Camorra" (very cool milonga style song). These guys carry the flag of Piazolla proudly, experimenting without fear.
